Description

Traditional Earth and Space Sciences studies rely on dedicated and extremely expensive sensors and related facilities to provide a variety of measurements to reveal how Mother Nature functions. Internet of Thing (IoT) may have the potential to provide alternative solutions to this field because of the extremely high date rate, broad communication spectrum, software-defined radio, advancement embedded sensors, better timing, and big data science under the future 5G architecture. This special session solicits papers that focus on applying the IoT connected sensors and devices to earth and space sciences studies. Example topics include using smartphones, smart devices and LTE/5G radio-wave to study earthquakes, hurricanes, aerosol and pollution, solar flares, CubeSat, balloons astrophysics, etc.
