Description
The energy available in the environment is in many cases sufficient to operate sensors and devices for IoT. Energy harvesting enables the flexible use of sensors in IoT and reduces drastically installation and maintenance costs. For energy aware sensors, it is on the one hand very important to use low-power technologies concerning electronic components and a suitable programming. On the other hand, it is important to realize efficient energy converters fitting to the properties of ambient sources and providing enough energy to supply the sensor systems. Recent improvements have revealed interesting possibilities to enhance both energy harvesting (EH) efficiency by the choice and design of suitable converters, combination of converters in hybrid solutions and adopting possibilities for wireless energy transmission. The session focuses on both system design aspects and harvester improvements. Papers are welcome concerning following aspects:
- Modeling, design and optimization of energy harvesting transducers
- Low-energy systems and system design
- Energy management in energy aware sensor systems
- Power saving methods and energy-efficient techniques
- Advanced interface circuits for autonomous sensors
- Applications of sensor systems powered by energy harvesting
